THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER

I. Loved. This. Movie. I (no joke) watched it four times last week. "Perks" has to be one of the best movies I have seen in a looooong time. Based on the novel by Stephen Chbosky (writen and directed by him as well!) I found this to be a pretty near perfect screen adaptation. The Perks of being a Wallflower follows Charlie, (played by Logan Lerman) a freshman in high school, who dosen't really have friends. He soon gets taken under the wing of two seniors, Sam and Patrick (played by Emma Watson and Ezra Miller) who teach him about the real world.

I thought that Ezra Miller, who plays Patrick, did a phenomenal job. I thought he totally embodied the character of Patrick, and completely filled all my expectations of him as he was in the book. They could not have cast a better actor. As for the role of Charlie, I thought Logan Lerman was an excellent fit. The only thing about him was that he most definatly did not look like a freshman in high school. Other than that, Logan Lerman made an excellent Charlie.

And now for Sam. Here's the thing. I love Emma Watson as an actress. She was fantastic in all eight of the Harry Potter movies. She's awesome, don't get me wrong, but I hated her as Sam. HATED her. I just thought that she was the completely wrong casting choice. She had the right look for Sam, but she couldn't keep down that American accent, and her British accent kept popping out all over the place. I also thought she didn't really embody the character of Sam and make her as quirky and fun as she could have. That's all.

The soundtrack to this movie was perfect. Just listen to the songs. Some of the artists include: David Bowie, The Smiths, and The Samples. Here is a playlist of some of my favorite songs in the movie.

1. Come on Eileen by Dexy's Midnight Riders
2. Heroes by David Bowie
3. Asleep by The Smiths
4. Pearly-dewdrops' Drops by Cocteau Twins

Overall, this movie was FANTASTIC and if you haven't already seen it GO AND WATCH IT NOW and if you have already seen it GO WATCH IT AGAIN.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
